Amazon’s New Kindle Colorsoft Gets a Price Cut

Amazon’s latest e-reader, the Kindle Colorsoft, is now more affordable. Usually priced at $279.99 in the U.S., it’s currently available for $224—a 20% discount. This price drop makes it a great option for anyone thinking about getting their first Kindle or upgrading an older model.

What’s exciting about the Colorsoft is that it’s Amazon’s first-ever e-reader with a color screen. Since launching its first Kindle back in 2007, Amazon has only used black-and-white displays—until now. The new screen is bright, colorful, and works well whether you’re reading in daylight or in bed at night. It also uses brand-new technology that no other e-reader on the market has. While the very first batch had a few technical hiccups, those issues have been fixed in the current models.

One of the coolest parts of this new Kindle is how it improves the way books and content are shown. You can now see full-color cover art for e-books, audiobooks, and manga. Even product details and star ratings are displayed in color. While regular text-only books still look pretty similar, books with pictures or PDFs really shine on this screen.

Another big plus? It’s faster. Amazon says turning pages on the Colorsoft is 25% quicker compared to the previous Kindle Paperwhite.
