Amazon Brings Back the Kindle Storyteller Award for 2025

Amazon’s Kindle Storyteller Award is making its return for 2025, once again opening the doors to self-published authors in the UK, Austria, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and Switzerland, the company revealed via a blog post. Writers have until August 31st to submit their stories through Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) for a chance to win exciting rewards.

This respected annual award celebrates the creativity and hard work of independent authors. Whether you’re just starting out or already have a few books under your belt, the competition offers a valuable opportunity. The winner will receive a cash prize and have their book turned into an audiobook through Audible, helping them reach even more readers.

France is celebrating its 10th year in the competition, and the impact of the award continues to grow. Darren Hardy, who leads Kindle Direct Publishing in Europe, explained how important this award is. He shared that independent publishing gives writers the freedom to tell unique stories in their own way, and Amazon is proud to support this through the Storyteller Award.

Many previous winners have seen their careers take off. In 2024, Bettina E. Pfeiffer won in Germany with her fantasy novel Die Legende der Feuerrosen. She called it a “phenomenal experience” that confirmed her path as a writer. UK winner JD Kirk also shared how the award helped him connect with more readers and grow his audience.

How to Join the Competition

If you’re 18 or older and publish your work through Kindle Direct Publishing, you’re eligible to enter. Just upload your book by August 31, 2025.

How Winners Are Chosen

Readers help decide which stories make it to the final round, with Amazon looking at things like book sales and customer reviews. Then a panel of judges reviews the top entries based on plot, creativity, style, and overall quality. The winner will be announced in Autumn 2025.

If you’ve got a story to tell, this is your chance to share it with the world—and possibly win one of the top awards in self-publishing. For more detailed info, you can visit the country-specific pages dedicated to each country: France, Germany, Italy, UK, and Spain.
