A pair of Amazon devices believed to be the upcoming Kindle e-readers have recently been spotted on the FCC website. There have already been a lot of rumors about Amazon working on a pair of new Kindle devices for launch soon. The two new devices have been described as ‘Electronic Display Devices with support for Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth LE’. That sure aligns well with the speculation of those being the next-generation Kindles that many believe are in the making.
However, as Liliputing pointed out, there is one thing that differentiates the two models, it being WPT which likely stands for Wireless Power Transfer. With the two devices being largely similar save for the WPT feature, chances are that they are going to be the next-generation versions of the Kindle Paperwhite and the Paperwhite Signature Editions. As with the current Paperwhite model that was released in 2021, WPT is one feature that the Signature Edition came with while the standard Paperwhite lacked.
Unfortunately, there is nothing else that the FCC listing reveals about the two devices though that’s hardly surprising as the FCC isn’t known to reveal all. However, there have been rumors that Amazon is working on a color display for the forthcoming Kindle devices. There has been a growing trend among manufacturers to launch color e-readers and Amazon surely won’t like to be left out of the race. Even Kobo has introduced color models featuring the Kaleido 3 panels. Amazon is however rumored to adopt the ACeP display tech which offers better color saturation compared to the Kaleido 3.
