New Boox 6 Go is Aiming Straight at the Kindle

Here is something that Amazon might need to be worried about. Onyx Boox has just launched a new e-reader device and it’s bang in the same category that the basic Kindle operates in. The new Boox 6 Go comes with a 6-inch upgraded E Ink Carta 1300 display having 300 PPI resolution, which means you have the best possible viewing experience that you can have with an e-paper device. The blacks are deeper and the whites are brighter than ever, making the content to simply pop out. At 146 grams and a $149.99 price tag, the Boox Go 6 is also going to be light on your pockets as well.

The e-reader otherwise comes with a 2.0GHz octa-core processor which ensures breezy performance. There is 2 GB of RAM onboard along with 32 GB of storage. It runs Android 12 and with Play Store support, you have scores of apps to fall back on when needed. The UI is minimalistic, which is always a nice thing, more so for a device that is designed primarily for e-book reading than anything else. It comes with a dark mode as well which can cut the glare further while saving some more of battery power.

Should the Kindle feel threatened?

The Kindle too offers a 6-inch 300 PPI display which is bright and crisp. However, with Android support, you are never tied to any particular eco-system, something that’s inherent with the Kindle. With the Kindle app installed, you won’t miss the Kindle either. You can also have multiple e-book reading apps installed via Google Play. Plus, the Go 6 also offers warm light controls, which is another huge advantage for the Go 6 over the Kindle basic.
