Woman Reads From Kindle and Physical Book to Find Out Which Allows Faster Reading

Physical books vs Kindle e-reader, which do you think allows for faster reading? A woman decided to put this long-standing debate to test to find out for herself which let her read faster. According to TheMirror, Emily chose Daisy Haites by Jessa Hastings – the second instalment in the Magnolia Parks series, as her test material.

Emily also used a timer to ensure she had accurate results for both forms of the book. She set the timer to 1 hour for each version of the book. So, after reading the physical version of the book for an hour, she switched to the online version of the same on her Kindle device, picking up from the exact same spot where she left off on the physical copy of the book.

The result of the findings turned out to be quite exciting. Emily said she managed to read 49 pages of the book, which she said has been without any distractions. However, with the Kindle, Emily said she went on to read 60 pages of the same book. She said the only major difference between the two forms of the book is that she could tap on the display to turn to the next page on a Kindle as opposed to flipping the page over with the physical copy of the book.

This should put to rest the debate as to which form of the books allows for faster reading. Of course, there are going to be exceptions to this, so it should not come as a surprise if, in another such experiment, the physical book comes out on top. Apart from individual reading habits, people also have their own preferences. While some opt for e-books, there are many who just can’t get over the allure of physical books, which, it must be said, has a charm of its own.

Nonetheless, it was good to see someone actually attempting to find out which form offered better reading convenience, physical books or e-books.
