It is the 10th anniversary of Kindle Unlimited, the Amazon service that lets users have access to almost an unlimited collection of e-books, magazines, comics, and audiobooks. With over 4 million e-books for the taking and new titles continuously being added, even the most voracious reader will perhaps never run out of books to read, all for a monthly rent of $12. There is also a three-month trial offer currently being provided for new members which is worth trying out.

Amazon meanwhile has revealed how the Kindle Unlimited journey has been all this while. With 3 billion books read so far, the KU is perhaps one of the most successful book rental services the world has ever had. The borrowed titles have no due date attached to them and members are free to read and hold up to 20 titles at a time. As The Bookseller stated, the KU program has been extremely beneficial for the Kindle Direct Publishing authors who have been provided with £2.66 billion or $3.5 billion in fees so far.

The title of the most-read book on KU goes to Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone penned by J K Rowling. No wonder Rowling has also been the most-read author on KU. Author of mystery titles, L J Ross has emerged as the second most popular author on the KU platform. Ross is also the most famous KDP author on KU, with six of her DCI Ryan Mysteries novels making it to the list of top 20 most-read titles on KU. Other KDP authors whose works have featured regularly among the top ten include J D Kirk, J M Dalgliesh, and Rachel McLean.
