Amazon has quietly launched the Kindle Learning Academy, a new online resource aimed primarily at helping new users navigate their Kindle devices and apps. Found at amazon.com/learningacademy/ereader, this hub offers how-to videos and step-by-step guidance on setting up, customizing, and troubleshooting Kindle e-readers and apps.
The Academy features tutorial videos that cover the essentials, such as:
- Downloading and managing eBooks
- Navigating menus, turning pages, and highlighting text
- Organizing libraries with collections and filters
- Basic troubleshooting steps, like restarting the device
While the content is helpful for beginners, the Learning Academy is currently little more than a streamlined help page. It lacks coverage of advanced Kindle features such as:
- Adding custom fonts
- Taking screenshots
- Using VoiceView for screen reading
- Note-taking tools exclusive to the Kindle Scribe
In addition to videos, Amazon links to its help forums and existing support pages, where users can ask questions and find more detailed information.
Critics suggest that the Academy could be more robust if Amazon regularly updated it with new content, showcased little-known features, and included posts from the About Amazon News section. Highlighting features designed for users with disabilities or offering a “top features” guide could also add value.
Though limited in scope for now, the Kindle Learning Academy serves as a useful starting point for those new to the Kindle ecosystem—and with some development, it could become a more comprehensive learning tool in the future.
